Wednesday, April 19, 2006, 5:30pm – 8pm+
AS220
115 Empire Street, Providence, RI

For first-timers here are the details:

  • It’s totally casual. Wear whatever, bring whoever, arrive and vamoose whenever…
  • Topics of conversation will vary as they will at any gathering of geeks, but many of us will be talking about AJAX, Mashups, Startups, new devices, interaction design, and Web Services.
  • Food and beverages are for sale at the adjoining Taqueria Pacifica and bar.
  • There is WiFi so bring your connected device of choice.
  • We have AS220’s performance space from 5:30pm to approximately 7pm. After that the geekery moves to AS220's adjoining cafe.

Please RSVP using the comments on this blog entry so we can give the good folks at AS220 an estimated headcount. And while you’re at it, consider subscribing to our RSS feed (update: new feed coming soon) and/or joining our mailing list (for the mailing list, send an email to Jack Templin at jtemplin at Gmail with your name and affiliation).

6. J. Jack Andrade - March 28, 2006

I will try my best to be there. Sounds great!

After previously working out of Cambridge and Boston for over ten years, I think we need to band together and keep our share of the brain trusts within Rhode Island.

7. Matt Coolidge - March 28, 2006

Wouldn’t miss another opportunity with this affiliation!

8. David Durand - March 28, 2006

Will be there, again, with bells on. Wait, where did I put my bells?

9. Lee Hower - March 30, 2006

I plan to drop by (first-timer).

10. Joshua Gold - March 31, 2006

I would like to attend this event. I am the CEO of Laservall North America, in Pawtucket, RI. We are a sub of an italian manufacturer of diode pumped solid state laser sources for a variety of micromanufacturing applications (marking, engraving, soldering welding) in the electronics, medical device, aerospace, automotive and other fields.

11. Bob Lee - April 1, 2006

Ahhh good to know the Prov. Geek Dinner is happening in April again, according to the ASS220 it was suppose to happen the first Wednesday of every month, apparently thats not the case. Anyhow hope to see many geeks.

12. Jack Templin - April 1, 2006

Bob,
Thanks for the heads-up — yeah that it's incorrect. While we hope to soon lock down on a regular date, e.g. first Wednesday of every month, we're not there quite yet (what you saw was probably an artifact of a false start to choose a regular date).
I searched for the mis-information you mention on AS220's site, but couldn't find it. If you or anyone else locate it, please let me know the URL and I'll have it fixed. Thanks, Jack

13. Brian Jepson - April 1, 2006

I’ll see you all there!

14. Jim Kelleher - April 4, 2006

I’d like to come. Not sure what I could add to discussion, as I’m still an IT student, but it’d be worthwhile to hear from the rest of you.

Where’s a good place to park?

15. Francisco Assis Rosa - April 5, 2006

Count me in! Look forward to seeing you there.

16. Kipp Bradford - April 5, 2006

Good conversation and good burritos! It’s an unbeatable combination. I’ll be there.

17. John West - April 11, 2006

I plan to attend. Looking forward to meeting some fellow geeks!

18. John Stafford - April 11, 2006

Plan to attend.

19. Jack Templin - April 13, 2006

Jim, I’ve found that Wednesday evening parking on the street isn’t too bad (as long as their isn’t a big event at the Dunk). Otherwise there are garages right around there. For the best garage price, park at Providence Place on the far south side of the garage and take the sky bridge over to the Westin street exit.
If anyone has better parking tips, I’d love to hear them.
Look forward to seeing you all.
Jack
